Gaurav Khanna confirms departure from ‘Anupamaa’

Actor Gaurav Khanna, widely adored for his portrayal of Anuj Kapadia in the popular Star Plus series ‘Anupamaa’, has confirmed his exit from the show as it takes a 15-year leap.

His departure marks the end of a three-year stint that evolved from a brief cameo into a defining chapter of his career.

Reflecting on his journey, Gaurav revealed that his role as Anuj was originally planned to last just three months. However, the character’s impact and audience love extended his tenure significantly.

He said, “People have been constantly asking me about my return to ‘Anupamaa’. “Rajan sir (producer Rajan Shahi) had discussed the possibility of a grand re-entry for the character, and we waited two months for it to materialise. However, the storyline had to progress, and waiting no longer made sense. He, too, felt it was time for me to explore something bigger. So, for now, Anuj’s chapter is closed, but I see it as a comma, not a full stop. If the story demands and my schedule allows, I’d be happy to return.”

Khanna’s departure marks a significant transition for ‘Anupamaa’, which continues to captivate audiences with its new twists and narrative shifts. Fans, meanwhile, have taken to social media to express their love for Anuj and their sadness at Gaurav’s exit.

Khanna expressed his gratitude to the fans: “That kind of love is rare, and I can’t thank my fans enough for it.”
